Tell us about yourself and what you do at the EPM/LB...
My brand is called Cider & Basil and I design and curatea range of eco-friendly products for dogs and their humans. I grew up being surrounded by animals and I am a huge animal lover. I personally own five pets, 3 dogs and 2 cats. It is through a personal bad experience with my maremma (Cider) that inspired me to create this brand. I’ve even named it after her.
When did you first know you wanted to be creative?
I suppose it would have to be when I bought my first dog in Australia. My dogs inspire me. I love my dogs dearly and I want the best for them. Sometimes I find it difficult to find good products for them. Hence, the birth of Cider & Basil. I wanted to create good products for our dogs and provide the option for fellow dog owners.
Describe your perfect day...
My perfect day would have to be a road trip out, with the whole gang of five pets (3 dogs and 2 cats). Either for a picnic somewhere or even for an adventure. Even my cats love the occasional hike/walk.
What is your best ever creative moment?
Seeing my first product on the shelf was an amazing moment.To see it grow from a concept into real life is almost a "pinchmyself" moment.
Describe a lesson you learnt from a creative failure...
Do not be afraid of failure. You can only learn from it and get better. And some mistakes end up leading to an unplanned new product or idea.
What's the scariest movie you have ever seen?
Shutter! Oh god... not sure why I did that to myself.
What’s the best advice anyone ever gave you?
Do not be afraid to try, you never know until you do.
What's your favourite tunes to get you in the creative mood?
During the week, I listen to bossanova or if I need a wake me up, ill listen to old school hiphop/rnb. On Sundays, I love acoustic music.
What do you love most about the EPM/LB?
I love that it is a community of people who love, appreciate and support small businesses. Everyone is there to enjoy some music, food and shopping.
Where do you see your business in the next 5 years?
I would love to be recognised as a go to brand for dog owners and see more of our products on the shelves.
